Given the actual society, called often knowledge society, most organizations are experimenting with some form of computer-assisted instruction, in order to train their employees. This article presents briefly the main characteristics of the knowledge society and of the e-learning systems, and how these two concepts interact and affect each other. Also, there are identified the most important informatics technologies which can be used in the e-learning applications. In order to analyze the actual e-learning systems, some of them are identified and compared based on various criteria.e-learning, Web Based Training, Knowledge Society, informatics technologies

The database systems have nowadays an increasingly important role in the knowledge-based society, in which computers have penetrated all fields of activity and the Internet tends to develop worldwide. In the current informatics context, the development of the applications with databases is the work of the specialists. Using databases, reach a database from various applications, and also some of related concepts, have become accessible to all categories of IT users. This paper aims to summarize the curricular area regarding the fundamental database systems issues, which are necessary in order to train specialists in economic informatics higher education. The database systems integrate and interfere with several informatics technologies and therefore are more difficult to understand and use. Thus, students should know already a set of minimum, mandatory concepts and their practical implementation: computer systems, programming techniques, programming languages, data structures. The article also presents the actual trends in the evolution of the database systems, in the context of economic informatics.database systems - DBS, database management systems – DBMS, database – DB, programming languages, data models, database design, relational database, object-oriented systems, distributed systems, advanced database systems

Today we witness an increase in the role of universities in civil society. The international trends show the universities’ openness towards the alternative offered by new technologies. The article shows the actual perspectives in our country, presents the main characteristics and the structure of a computerized university management system, and also indicates the possibility of informatic integration for the system modules. The development of such a project must be controlled and validated by a standardized methodology for project management, which is shown in the article.Project Management, informatic system, management of an educational institution, portal application integration, methodology, Prince2

A model for Business Intelligence Systems’ Development

    Get PDF
Often, Business Intelligence Systems (BIS) require historical data or data collected from var-ious sources. The solution is found in data warehouses, which are the main technology used to extract, transform, load and store data in the organizational Business Intelligence projects. The development cycle of a data warehouse involves lots of resources, time, high costs and above all, it is built only for some specific tasks. In this paper, we’ll present some of the aspects of the BI systems’ development such as: architecture, lifecycle, modeling techniques and finally, some evaluation criteria for the system’s performance.BIS (Business Intelligence Systems), Data Warehouses, OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing), Object-Oriented Modeling

Decision Support System in National Power Companies. A Practical Example (Part I)

    Get PDF
The paper presents the developing stages of the decision support prototype in which the data warehouse and the presentation level are built and validated. The paper also extends the results published in the 12th international conference on Informatics in Economy (IE 2013) proceedings and will presents the major steps for developing the data warehouse that integrates the sources from the Wind Power Plants (WPP) from the national parks and also the interface modules that allow managers to analyze data at a central level

Providing a unified enterprise-wide data platform that feeds into consumer applications and meets the integration, analysis and reporting users' requirements is a wish that often involves significant time and resource consumption. As an alternative to developing a data warehouse for physical integration of enterprise data, the article presents data virtualization technology. There are presented its main strengths, weaknesses and ways of combining it with classical data integration technologies. Current trends in data virtualization market reveal the great potential of growth of these solutions, which appear to have found a stable place in the portfolio of data integration tools in companies

    No full text
Nowadays, social networks and informatics technologies and infrastructures are constantly developing and affect each other. In this context, the HR recruitment process became complex and many multinational organizations have encountered selection issues. The objective of the paper is to develop a prototype system for assisting the selection of candidates for an intelligent management of human resources. Such a system can be a starting point for the efficient organization of semi-structured and unstructured data on recruitment activities. The article extends the research presented at the 14th International Conference on Informatics in Economy (IE 2015) in the scientific paper "Big Data challenges for human resources management"
